Eternal Life - Promised by God
Every Christian talks about eternal life as promised by God our Father. It is the hope of every Christian; it is what we dedicate our lives to and change our lives for. From the beginning of time, God has put eternity in man’s heart and man has been longing to achieve that goal. But unless you eat from the Tree of Life you will never live forever. The tree of life has been barred from mankind since Adam and Eve. Adam and Eve were barred from eating from the tree of life because of disobedience. Gen 3:22.
When God said that Adam and Eve would surely die if they ate from the Tree of Knowledge it was because they could not live without the Tree of Life. They could have eaten from the Tree of Life at any time and they would have lived forever but by their one act of disobedience they forfeited their opportunity to live forever. Eating from the tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil forfeits taking from the Tree of Life.
“Then the LORD God said: See! The man has become like one of us, knowing good and evil! Now, what if he also reaches out his hand to take fruit from the tree of life, and eat of it and lives forever? 23The LORD God therefore banished him from the garden of Eden, to till the ground from which he had been taken.24He expelled the man, stationing the cherubim and the fiery revolving sword east of the garden of Eden, to guard the way to the tree of life”. Genesis 3:22-24
This is what Satan knew and Eve did not. But Praise be to God our Father. Through Jesus the Christ, we can once again gain access to the Tree of Life. It is promised to all who overcomes. Through Jesus we learn the truth about God. We obtain wisdom which leads to Eternal Life. Adam and Eve had an opportunity to live forever but they chose wrong. They didn’t trust God or believe His words to be true, instead they chose to believe the words of the snake, who had no part in their creation and was a created being itself.
Without God’s Wisdom and knowledge, mankind choose wrong and our choices dictate the fate of our future. Choices and consequences are real. God will not be mocked. Although in His Grace and Mercy He has given man free will to choose, he also set in place laws that govern those choices. We reap what we sow, we get what we put out. So with every choice, we must be careful to understand the consequences that come with it.
Jesus taught Wisdom and Knowledge of the Father. Knowledge of the Father leads people to repentance. Repentance leads to change. Change leads to everlasting life. Unless you are born again, you cannot see the Kingdom. To be born again is to start all over. To change your mind about how you are living and die to self so that you can be reborn into a new life; a new way of thinking. A way of thinking that lead you to the Father of all.
One day, all who have believed God and trusted in His word will have an opportunity to eat from the Tree of Life which is still in the Paradise of God. But you have to transform your mind. Go back to your first love which is a love of God and all things true. Stop practicing those pagan holidays and pagan ways of living and remember that we are to be imitators of Christ. Then we will be able to have access to the Tree of Life.
“To the angel of the church in Ephesus write:
These are the words of him who holds the seven stars in his right hand and walks among the seven golden lampstands. 2 I know your deeds, your hard work and your perseverance. I know that you cannot tolerate wicked people, that you have tested those who claim to be apostles but are not, and have found them false. 3 You have persevered and have endured hardships for my name, and have not grown weary.
4 Yet I hold this against you: You have forsaken the love you had at first. 5 Consider how far you have fallen! Repent and do the things you did at first. If you do not repent, I will come to you and remove your lampstand from its place. 6 But you have this in your favor: You hate the practices of the Nicolaitans, which I also hate. 7 Whoever has ears, let them hear what the Spirit says to the churches. To the one who is victorious, I will give the right to eat from the tree of life, which is in the paradise of God”. Revelation 2:1-7
The way to do this is to be imitators of Christ. Jesus is the Way, the Truth, and the Life. No one can come to the Father except through Christ. No One can come to Christ unless they are drawn to him by God. We are drawn to Christ through Lovingkindness. “As it is written in the Scriptures, 'they will all be taught by God.' Everyone who listens to the Father and learns from him comes to me” John 6:45.
"They will not teach again, each man his neighbor and each man his brother, saying, 'Know the LORD,' for they will all know Me, from the least of them to the greatest of them," declares the LORD, "for I will forgive their iniquity, and their sin I will remember no more" Jeremiah 31:34.
“The LORD is good and does what is right; he shows the proper path to those who go astray” Psalm 25:8.
“Your ears will hear a word behind you, "This is the way, walk in it," whenever you turn to the right or to the left” Isaiah 30:21.
“Let us therefore, as many as are perfect, be thus minded: and if in anything ye are otherwise minded, this also shall God reveal unto you” Philippians 3:15
One day, all of those who overcome will have access to the Tree of Life. We will be allowed to take from its fruit and eat. We will live forever in the Kingdom that God has prepared from the beginning for all who love Him; and we demonstrate this love by the keeping of His commandments. So let’s ask God for Wisdom to do His Will and follow in the path of Righteousness for His name sake. For God is the Kingdom, the Power and the Glory Forever.
